Asia Pacific and CEE – Far Away, So Close! Opportunities for Developing the Cooperation

This event aims to raise awareness among legal communities of the region on activities of the IPBA, as well as support a wider scope of stakeholders with regard to challenges posed by the global economic situation and opportunities for developing cooperation between the Asia Pacific and CEE.

8:30-9:00 Registration

9:00-9:30 Opening Ceremony – Welcome and opening statements by IPBA President Miyuki Ishiguro. Setting the context and relating the topics in the region – Mirella Lechna-Marchewka

9:30-10:00 Keynote Address – Investment trends and market developments in the region – tbc

10:00-11:15 Session 1 – Legal Challenges and Opportunities in CEE for Asia-Pacific – focusing on emerging potential in rebuild Ukraine infrastructure projects. IPBA International Construction Projects Committee, moderated by Mirella Lechna-Marchewka

11:15-11:30 Coffee break.

11:30-12:45 Session 2 – Navigating the Complexities of International Trade Law between Asia-Pacific and CEE: Analyzing the legal hurdles in international trade agreements, customs regulations, and dispute resolution mechanisms that affect business operations and investments between the two regions.

12:45-14:00 Lunch

14:00-15:15 Session 3 – Construction and Infrastructure Development: Legal Framework and Dispute Management: This session would delve into the legal aspects of construction and infrastructure projects, including contract negotiation, risk management, and arbitration in cross-border projects. IPBA International Construction Projects Committee (Dispute Resolution & Arbitration Committee, TBD) moderated by Karen Gough.

15:30-17:00 Session 4 – Cybersecurity, Data Privacy, Intellectual Property Rights and Technology Transfer between Asia-Pacific and CEE: Exploring the legal challenges and opportunities in protecting intellectual property rights and facilitating technology transfer and innovation across borders.
